April 3, 2017, (MIPTV 2017) - SPB TV, a leading OTT TV, IPTV and mobile TV solutions developer, and China International TV Corporation (CITVC), a large state-owned enterprise fully invested by the largest Chinese television holding, China Central Television (CCTV), have signed a licensing agreement to grant international rights to a package of documentary content produced by CCTV to be shown in the section " China Hour" on SPB TV platform.
The broadcast SPB TV includes the most famous CCTV documentary films such as "Legends of Bruce Lee", "The Belt and Road", "China’s Mega Projects" and many other masterpieces of Chinese documentary art depicting Chinese culture, martial arts, history and life of Chinese society. Monetization of the content is scheduled basing on the distribution of the income from the placed advertising.
The agreement was signed on April 3, 2017 at 2017 MIPTV (Cannes – France) by Kirill Filippov, the CEO, on the part of SPB TV, and by Ms. Shen Jianing, the General Manager of China Radio, Film & Television Programs Exchanging Center, China International TV Corporation, on the part of China International TV Corporation.
The first agreement in the history of the SPB TV - СCTV relations involves the placement of VOD content and has become a continuation of cooperation that began in 2015 with the signing of the contract on broadcasting live on the platform of SPB TV channels CCTV-4 (Chinese International), CCTV-9 Documentary, CCTV NEWS, CCTV Français, CCTV Español, CCTV Russian and CCTV Arabian. Let us draw your attention to the fact that this contract was the first one for CCTV with regard to the distribution in the OTT outside the People's Republic of China.
August, 2016, SPB TV became a member of “Belt and Road Media Community”. The “Belt and Road Media Community”, sponsored by China Central Television (“CCTV”) and China International Television Corporation (“CITVC”) and supported by media from Asia, Europe and Africa, was formally founded on August 26, 2016 in Beijing.
